The State of Design festival in Melbourne is bringing everyone one out of the woodwork. Encompassing a number of events, workshops and exhibitions I’ve been soaking up the buzz and inspiration this year.
Most notable was Design Made Trade which I attended with my cousin Matt who is also a designer. So many brilliant people doing brilliant things. Stand outs for me where The Mod Collective, David Knott and Mule Furniture. I didn’t take any photos at DMT, but I did take a few photos when I attended Melbourne’s Open House Architecture sideshow, where architecturally significant buildings sometimes not open to the public become pieces of art to be beheld. Stand outs were the Pixel building (even though I didn’t make it in time to see inside, I’ve read the press releases and I’m impressed) the Myer Mural Ball room, mostly for it’s deco re-surgence furniture and last but not least, the AMAZING rainbow we saw on our way home.
